About Southern Poverty Law Center

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Our mission focuses primarily on advocating for racial justice, civil rights, and combating discrimination in all its forms. We recognize that our customers, the communities we serve, face significant challenges—including rising hate, systemic racism, and oppression, which is why we engage in legal advocacy and public education aimed at dismantling the roots of injustice.

At SPLC, we believe in empowering communities, laying groundwork for a national movement that uplifts all individuals and drives meaningful progress. Our efforts include monitoring over 1,500 active extremist groups and addressing their impacts through legal action and community education. By protecting voting rights, eradicating poverty, and dismantling white supremacy, we promote a future in which justice, equality, and opportunity are available to everyone. Our innovative programs, such as Learning for Justice, provide educators with resources to promote civil engagement, inclusivity, and diversity in classrooms across the nation, helping to ensure that future generations not only understand their rights but also learn the importance of standing up for those rights. Join us in our mission to build a more equitable society.
