Disability Rights California (DRC) is a nonprofit agency that represents and advocates for the rights and opportunities of individuals with disabilities throughout California. Founded in 1978, DRC is the largest disability rights organization in the nation, established under federal law to advocate for the protection and enforcement of the rights of individuals with disabilities. At DRC, we are dedicated to ensuring that disabled individuals have the same opportunities as everyone else, alongside providing the resources and support necessary for them to thrive in their respective communities.

Our mission is to defend, advance, and strengthen the rights of people with disabilities to participate fully in society without discrimination, barriers, or prejudices. This involves a comprehensive range of advocacy efforts, including legal representation, community education, peer advocacy training, and systemic reform initiatives. Our expert staff works passionately to challenge injustices within multiple systems, including education, employment, housing, and healthcare. Through tireless advocacy, DRC seeks to empower individuals with disabilities, enabling them to make informed decisions about their lives and assert their rights.
