The Team

The Atlassian Platform team is responsible for owning and managing Atlassian applications (primarily Jira, Service Desk and Confluence) and integrations supporting multiple business functions across Kraken. This team works closely with our stakeholders across HR, Engineering, PMO, etc to provide technology solutions and services to enable them for success in carrying out business operations & launching strategic business projects .

The Sr. Manager of Atlassian Platform will be responsible for partnering closely with business to understand business pain points & areas of opportunity within their applications, processes and workflows, build project roadmap, execute on projects and support the business operations for the global users of Kraken. This role will provide techno-functional subject matter expertise and advisory to various businesses to design scalable processes and implement best in class systems for security, performance and operational efficiency. This role will manage a team of front and backend engineers working on Atlassian related projects, enhancements and support, and will be responsible for growing and nurturing a high performing and best in class Atlassian expert services team.

This role will require thorough knowledge and understanding of Atlassian on-prem and cloud, and experience implementing and administering Atlassian in a larger and complex environment to support various business units with integrations to other applications and 3rd party systems. This role reports to the Sr. Director of IT.

The Opportunity

  • Form and maintain strong strategic relationships with stakeholders across the various business units (HR, Finance, Engineering, PMO, etc)

  • Manage and coach a team of Atlassian administrators and engineers working across multiple projects and initiatives

  • Lead, and drive the vision and roadmap for Atlassian Platform for the company

  • Define work intake and execution process across run, grow and transform areas for the team to serve customers more effectively

  • Work with business to understand their priorities, manage backlog and help the team to prioritize their time

  • Act as the project manager when needed to spearhead projects and initiatives

  • Demonstrate consistent and predictable delivery by the team along with transparent and ongoing communication to business partners to build their trust and confidence in the team

  • Act as the in-house systems expert and oversee the administration and management of the Atlassian Suite of applications and integrations

  • Lead process and architecture discussions when it comes to recommending best solutions and systems for business

  • Be a proactive partner to business and lead discussions to identify opportunities and pain points to resolve them using technology architecture and systems

  • Challenge existing business & IT processes, methods and systems for improving operations, better security and scalability

  • Oversee project lifecycle (requirement gathering, design, development, test, release and stabilize) by managing risks, issues and dependencies using strict project governance methods

  • Leverage business relationships to partner with business on transformation efforts for process and system improvements

  • Partner closely with Risk and Security teams to ensure greater security, better auditability and compliance of finance systems

  • Partner with business and 3rd party vendors to evaluate and select best in class tools and solutions for Atlassian platform

  • Provide oversight and manage SI partners who engage with us on projects and technical initiatives

  • Partner closely with the stakeholders and act as the subject matter expert in guiding business and the team on systems best practices and procedures when it comes to using Atlassian

  • Accountable for production support, oversee and guide bug fixes and work with vendors if needed for additional support for remedy

  • Identify, and analyze data within systems for recommending improvements and opportunities to business and executive management

  • Proactively conduct system health checks and assessments to measure adoption, assess health and security, identify opportunity areas and act on them

  • Partner with procurement and finance teams to manage vendor agreements, and plan for renewals/upgrades

Skills you should HODL

  • 10+ years of overall experience in Atlassian engineering and/or DevOps role

  • 5+ years of experience configuration and administration experience in an Atlassian platform and applications (On-prem Atlassian experience is a must have)

  • Experience working within the IT/Engineering team of a hyper growth company with complex data and integrations will be a plus

  • 5+ years of people management experience managing technology teams for IT, engineering or enterprise applications

  • 4+ years of experience working on business process analysis and architecture

  • Abreast knowledge and familiarity of Atlassian features and applications for various teams like engineering, HR, Finance, etc

  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience of Jira, Jira Service Management and Confluence administration and optimization is a must

  • Deep understanding of all aspects of running and managing Atlassian on Data Center including hosting, managing and deploying apps on AWS

  • In-depth experience with IT operations tools and best practices, release management, and change management

  • Experience with cloud migration of the Atlassian platform from the Data Center is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of project management techniques, and methodologies including Agile Scrum

  • Comfortable working on projects with ambiguity and able to handle multiple projects at the same time

  • Experience working with internal and external audit teams to conduct SOX, SOC type of audits will be required

  • Prior consulting experience/ business process mapping experience is a plus.

  • Atlassian certification is a plus
