Senior Software Engineer - UI

The Senior UI Engineer is responsible for designing and developing the implementation of game systems and resources, focusing on the development of user interfaces and tools for user interfaces. This role works closely with other programmers and the production team to create high-performance, robust, and sustainable systems in a game development environment.

As a Senior Software Engineer (UI) you will

• Implement robust and scalable solutions for UI rendering in a game engine
• Develop cutting-edge user interface backend for a proprietary ECS-driven game engine
• Research the state of the art in UI development and apply that research through technical designs and implementation.
• Perform CPU and GPU performance profiling and optimization
• Identify and highlight any potential risks during the development process
• Solve engineering problems by applying sound software engineering principles, design patterns, performance optimization and minimizing any potential disruption factors during the development process
• Champion engineering excellence at Kokku as well as with our client’s development efforts

Requirements

• Comfortable with a wide range of code design patterns including OOP, MVVM and MVC programming
• Strong understanding of how a game engine works and of editor concepts

• Solid engineering skills with a vast professional experience in games
• Knowledge of fundamental UI concepts like 2D layout, animation, and text rendering
• Two or more shipped games
• Multiplatform development experience
• Excellent programming skills in modern C++
• Solid CPU and GPU debugging and optimization experience
• Solid understanding of graphics pipelines and rendering techniques
• Familiarity with several UI frameworks (game, web, application, etc.)
• Familiarity with shaders, particle systems, and 3D rendering
• Experience with proprietary game engines or solid experience with Unreal source
• Solid attention to organization and detail with strong analytical skills
• Solid technical insight
• Good communication skills with the ability to write and verbalize conceptual thoughts
• Strong sense of accountability to consistently meet and exceed performance expectations
• High emotional intelligence to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics effectively
• Proactive agent with a problem solving and critical thinking mindset
• Solid debugging and optimisation skills
