Our client, an established organization specializing in media services and professional education, is looking for a Head of Sales to oversee their membership and sponsorship revenue operations. This represents a compelling opportunity to become part of a rapidly expanding business.
The organization provides services to communications and marketing practitioners via an exclusive membership council, industry events, and partnership programs. They seek a proven sales executive who excels in enterprise-level, account-focused selling environments.
This position is perfect for a working leader who maintains a passion for selling while also coaching, developing, and motivating a growing sales organization to achieve exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operations, marketing, content, technology, and executive leadership to ensure alignment across departments
- Engage directly in client calls to support deal closure—this is a working leadership position that requires active selling, not purely administrative oversight
- Provide meaningful analysis of performance data, strategic planning insights, and business metrics to the executive team
- Manage, coach, and grow a successful sales organization of 6+ team members spanning membership acquisition and sponsorship development
- Cultivate and expand relationships with enterprise accounts to drive increased annual revenue per client
- Attend industry conferences and networking functions to identify prospects and broaden professional connections
- Ensure team members consistently achieve individual targets of 4-6 membership agreements closed monthly
- Meet annual team revenue objectives for new client acquisition, contract renewals, and customer retention (goal: 85-90% renewal rate)
- Maintain deep knowledge of the organization's complete product and service portfolio along with associated value propositions
- Develop and sustain a healthy pipeline; deploy tactics to enhance lead-to-close conversion
- Monitor industry developments, emerging best practices, and the competitive environment
- Assess and refine sales methodologies, recognizing weaknesses and areas for enhancement
Requirements
- Background in membership sales, SaaS platforms, or recurring revenue business models
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sales team leadership and management
- Track record of successfully selling to executive-level decision makers (Chief Communications Officers, VPs of Communications, and similar)
- Working knowledge of CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, or comparable systems)
- 10+ years of B2B sales experience with documented success securing enterprise contracts
- History of closing agreements with typical transaction sizes of $25,000+, ideally $50,000+
Benefits
- Base Salary: $160,000 annually plus commission (Total Compensation: $200,000–$250,000)
- 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching contributions
- Employer-funded disability coverage and life insurance
- Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Ample paid time off and company holidays
