Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented Legal/Product Counsel to join our team at k-ID. As a Legal/Product Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support to our product and engineering teams, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will play a key role in helping us navigate legal complexities and mitigate any potential risks that may arise. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with a strong legal background and experience in the technology industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to our product and engineering teams, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations related to online safety, child privacy, and data protection.
- Review and negotiate contracts and agreements, including privacy policies, terms of service, and intellectual property licenses.
- Assist in conducting legal research and analysis on various topics affecting the company's products and operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations, and communicate any changes or updates to internal stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of company policies and procedures related to legal and compliance matters.
- Assist in managing legal disputes and investigations, as necessary.
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited university and admission to practice law.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the technology industry.
- 2+ PQE with top tier international law firm experience or Tier-1 tech company.
- Strong knowledge of EU and international laws and regulations related to online safety, child privacy, and data protection (e.g. GDPR, COPPA).
- Experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide practical and strategic legal advice.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Knowledge of intellectual property laws and licensing agreements is a plus.
- Fluency in English, with knowledge of other European languages being a plus.
