This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr. Systems Architect in the United States.
This role provides a unique opportunity to lead the design and deployment of advanced communication and networking systems, focusing on 5G ORAN, RF, SATCOM, and tactical network architectures. You will architect end-to-end solutions for mobile and fixed platforms in complex, contested environments, leveraging expertise in 5G waveforms, DSSS, Frequency Hopping, and OpenAirInterface. The position involves guiding a multidisciplinary team, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performance systems. Success in this role requires balancing hands-on technical leadership with strategic architectural vision, ensuring systems meet stringent performance, security, and operational requirements. The environment is highly innovative, mission-driven, and focused on pushing the boundaries of communications technology for defense and critical infrastructure applications.
Accountabilities:
- Architect integrated communication systems using RF, SATCOM, IP-based technologies, and 5G ORAN standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of DSP and embedded software engineers to deliver real-time, mission-critical communications solutions.
- Adapt and extend 5G OpenAirInterface stacks to meet low probability of intercept (LPI) and low probability of detection (LPD) objectives.
- Develop and validate system-level approaches for incorporating DSSS and Frequency Hopping into tactical communication networks.
- Conduct link budgets, RF propagation analysis, interference assessments, and performance optimization studies.
- Support integration and field testing of communication systems across fixed, mobile, and UAV platforms.
- Produce technical documentation, system specifications, and R&D deliverables for internal and customer-facing purposes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in 5G ORAN, Radio/RAN systems, RF or SATCOM systems engineering, DSP, and embedded software.
- Hands-on experience with 5G OpenAirInterface (gNB, EPC/5GC, UE integration).
- Expertise in DSSS, Frequency Hopping, and secure, resilient wireless communications.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, STK, or similar simulation and modeling tools.
- Experience with tactical and commercial MANET radios and hybrid 5G/SATCOM networks.
- U.S. Citizenship and active DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance.
- Preferred: containerized 5G core deployment, network slicing, URLLC/eMBB optimization, UAV communications, RF planning, beamforming, MIMO systems, and DoD SBIR project experience.
Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $150,000 – $200,000 USD annually.
- Flexible remote work with required travel (25–30%).
- Collaborative and mission-driven work environment.
- Professional development and growth opportunities.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement planning options.
- Exposure to cutting-edge technologies and innovative projects in defense communications.
