This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr. Data Platform Engineer in the United States.
The Sr. Data Platform Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-scale data solutions across cloud platforms, with a focus on Snowflake, AWS, and modern data governance frameworks. This role provides an opportunity to shape end-to-end data architecture, ensuring secure, high-performance pipelines and compliance with privacy regulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, analysts, product managers, and compliance specialists to translate business needs into scalable, cost-effective solutions. The position emphasizes cloud innovation, automation, and modern ELT/ETL methodologies while supporting large-scale initiatives and delivering measurable business impact.
Accountabilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data architecture solutions using Snowflake and AWS.
- Lead architecture and development of ELT/ETL pipelines leveraging Python, dbt, Fivetran, and shell scripting.
- Collaborate with business partners, IT teams, compliance, and information security to translate business requirements into robust data solutions.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and data privacy in all aspects of data design, storage, and usage (FERPA, GDPR, etc.).
- Optimize cloud performance and cost for data solutions, implementing best practices in security and governance.
- Maintain full lifecycle development standards and documentation.
- Provide consultative guidance and mentorship on data engineering and platform best practices.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or related fields.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake in production environments.
- 3–5 years of custom Python and shell scripting for data pipelines.
- Strong expertise with AWS services relevant to data warehousing, lakes, and security (S3, Lambda, IAM).
- Familiarity with dbt, ELT/ETL frameworks, and Fivetran.
- Experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
- Understanding of information security, network frameworks, and compliance frameworks (FERPA, GDPR, SOC audits).
- Proven ability to design enterprise-scale data architecture aligned with business strategy.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Experience in education technology or handling educational data is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to pass background check and travel up to 10% of the time.
- Relevant certifications in Snowflake, AWS, or data governance tools are a plus.
