As a Software Development Engineer III, you will play a key role in developing and scaling high-performance mapping services that handle billions of requests daily. You will design robust backend systems, optimize ETL pipelines, and build microservices that support global users and edge cases in real-time. This role combines hands-on coding, system design, and operational responsibility, with opportunities to mentor teammates and influence technical decisions. Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain high-volume, low-latency backend services for mapping applications.
- Design and implement scalable systems and microservices while ensuring reliability under global demand.
- Optimize ETL pipelines to process and distribute geographic data efficiently.
- Collaborate with your team to identify, scope, and deliver tasks on time and with high quality.
- Lead operational excellence efforts by testing, monitoring, documenting, and supporting services in production.
- Mentor team members, share knowledge, and reduce technical debt.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, creativity, and data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building scalable backend services in high-volume, low-latency environments.
- Strong proficiency in C++, TypeScript (backend), and AWS services (CDK, ECS, Step Functions, Lambda, S3).
- Experience with code versioning tools such as GitHub.
- Ability to work independently, execute development tasks based on designs/specs, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and an empirical approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with mentorship, documentation, and collaborative knowledge sharing.
