We are seeking experienced Senior Database Administrators to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise-scale database environments. In this role, you will manage SQL Server, Oracle, and related database systems, supporting both operational and analytical workloads. You will work with a collaborative, security-conscious team to optimize high-availability architectures, implement best practices, and maintain compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity standards. The role offers opportunities to influence system design, automate processes, and contribute to critical federal modernization projects. You will actively troubleshoot, tune, and upgrade systems while supporting disaster recovery and backup strategies. Accountabilities:
- Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, and other database environments, including clustered and standalone systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance daily to ensure high availability.
- Apply patches, handle upgrades, and manage database version control and migrations.
- Support schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and storage management.
- Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and automation for monitoring, auditing, and maintenance tasks.
- Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including replication and failover configurations.
- Enforce database security policies, access controls, and compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
- Collaborate with developers, system engineers, and project teams to integrate databases with applications and cloud services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, architectures, and standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in database administration for enterprise-scale systems.
- Hands-on expertise with MS SQL / SQL Server, SQL Cluster environments, Oracle Database, MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft Access.
- Strong understanding of database design, clustering, replication, performance tuning, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Proven experience with patching, version upgrades, monitoring, and storage optimization.
- Skilled in schema management, stored procedures, and access control models.
- U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance (active clearance preferred).
- Preferred experience supporting federal health, defense, or civilian agency database environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL service management, enterprise ticketing systems, and cloud or hybrid database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, OCI).
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified, Oracle Certified Professional, or AWS Database Specialty are a plus.
