We are seeking a highly experienced Data Governance Advisor to drive metadata and reference data strategy, ensuring data integrity, quality, and accessibility across enterprise systems. In this role, you will integrate and operationalize advanced governance tools, enabling trustworthy analytics and AI initiatives. You will collaborate closely with IT, business, and AI/ML teams to embed rich metadata, automate discovery, and enhance data self-service capabilities. This position provides the opportunity to influence data strategy, streamline governance processes, and deliver actionable insights in a collaborative, agile environment. You will act as a technical authority, balancing operational execution with strategic oversight, while fostering a data-driven culture across multiple stakeholders.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the implementation and operationalization of enterprise data governance policies, tools, and frameworks.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, reliability, timeliness, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle.
- Execute complex metadata management initiatives, including technical data lineage, data profiling, and reference data management.
- Collaborate with IT, business, and AI/ML stakeholders to align governance practices with strategic data and analytics goals.
- Identify data risks, perform assessments, and recommend solutions to mitigate issues.
- Develop and enforce standards for critical data elements, data definitions, and consistency across systems.
- Provide expert guidance, training, and support to teams on governance processes, tools, and best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience in data governance, metadata management, reference data, or data management practices.
- Strong understanding of data models, reference data architecture, and enterprise data systems.
- Experience with data governance tools such as Manta, Alation, Anomalo, BigID, and Semarchy.
- Ability to apply secure software and systems engineering practices in the data lifecycle.
- Analytical mindset with experience in data quality, metrics interpretation, and solution scoping.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills across technical and business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of insurance, financial services, or highly regulated industries is a plus.
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, statistics, business, or a related field; graduate studies or certifications are a plus.
