This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Azure Data Engineer - Agentic AI Platform in Germany.
As Senior Azure Data Engineer, you will design and implement modern lakehouse architectures that power scalable AI solutions and enable self-service data access. You will leverage advanced Azure services including OneLake, Fabric, Databricks, and Mirroring to build secure, cost-efficient, and high-performance data platforms. In this role, you will mentor junior engineers, lead architecture discussions, and guide the organization in best practices for governance and data strategy. Your work will directly influence the success of AI-driven initiatives and ensure that stakeholders have reliable and actionable insights. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic advisory responsibilities, providing a chance to shape the data infrastructure for the future.
Accountabilities
- Design and implement lakehouse platforms using Fabric/OneLake, Synapse, Delta Lake, and zero-ETL mirroring.
- Build DataOps frameworks, including Delta Live Tables, serverless SQL pools, and automated monitoring for performance and cost optimization.
- Implement centralized data management and fine-grained access control via Unity Catalog and integrate with Purview.
- Develop security and compliance solutions, including VNet, Private Link, Key Vault, and Active Directory integration.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead code reviews, and provide guidance on architecture and best practices.
- Advise stakeholders on data strategy, technology selection, and business impact.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and operating Azure data platforms (Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse/Fabric).
- Strong expertise in data architecture, distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, cost optimization, and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to business partners.
- Fluent in German and proficient in English.
- Proven ability to guide teams and influence technical strategy in a growing data engineering environment.
