This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Network Virtualization Engineer IRES - SSFB in the United States.
In this role, you will provide advanced network virtualization support for mission-critical environments, working closely with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity teams to maintain and optimize virtualized infrastructures. You will manage complex VMware systems, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and implement best practices to ensure secure, efficient operations. The position requires collaboration on network deployments, vulnerability remediation, and system monitoring, with the opportunity to advise government customers on optimization and improvements. You will also participate in virtual machine deployment, logical router configurations, and network security management while contributing to a high-performing, highly technical team. Accountabilities:
- Support network build-out and deployments to C2BMC Test Facility environments as required.
- Perform VMware system administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring or critical system issues.
- Collaborate with system administration, network, and cybersecurity teams to maintain test environments.
- Execute vulnerability remediation and mitigation to reduce cybersecurity risks and ensure DoD compliance.
- Conduct daily monitoring, system backup/restoration, and application upgrades to maintain continuous operations.
- Document system changes and actions in relevant records to maintain historical data.
- Advise stakeholders on system status, optimization, and improvement initiatives.
- Assist with virtual machine deployment and management of virtualization environments.
- Communicate technical information clearly to management and government customers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of general work experience (may be reduced with advanced education).
- 7+ years of directly related experience in network virtualization and system administration.
- 1+ year of management or leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of Internet Protocols (DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL) and firewall configuration/troubleshooting.
- Experience with multiple network types and telecommunications infrastructures.
- Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and VCF infrastructure.
- Ability to configure distributed stateful firewalls, NAT, load balancing, and micro-segmentation.
- Experience migrating virtual machines and workloads across VMware environments.
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+, CySA, or higher).
- Active or eligible DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Residency in a HUBZone or willingness to relocate before start date.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with PowerPoint and Visio.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on complex field projects.
Desired Skills:
- Project management lifecycle experience.
- Knowledge of VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria, RHEL Ansible, and HPE server products.
- VMware certifications (VCTA, VCP-DCV, VCAP, VCDX-DCV).
- Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA certification.
- Experience with network monitoring and Python or PowerShell scripting.
- Familiarity with Missile Defense and DoD communications systems.
- Understanding of development lifecycles (SELC, ITIL, SDLC).
