This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Integration Engineer - HL7 in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to be a key technical contributor in the healthcare IT space, supporting and enhancing medical imaging and clinical system integrations. The Integration Engineer will ensure seamless data flow, reliable image routing, and system performance across PACS, RIS, EHR, and related clinical applications. You will collaborate with clinical, IT, and radiology teams to maintain high availability and compliance with healthcare standards, while providing troubleshooting, technical guidance, and documentation. This position allows you to work remotely, hybrid, or onsite, with opportunities to support critical projects and advance your expertise in healthcare interoperability standards. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is committed to maintaining data integrity and secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Accountabilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain integrations using HL7, FHIR, DICOM, APIs, and related standards.
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot interfaces to ensure accurate data mapping and transmission.
- Support PACS, RIS, dictation/voice recognition systems, EHR systems, and other clinical applications.
- Monitor and optimize integration engine performance and system workflows.
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and workflow procedures.
- Participate in upgrades, system downtimes, and critical project support.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and internal data security standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or a related field, or Associate degree with five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of HL7 and DICOM standards, with experience in PACS, RIS, and EHR systems.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, REST/SOAP APIs, and interoperability tools; familiarity with FHIR preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Valid driver’s license and occasional ability to lift/move equipment (~75 lbs).
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
