The AWS Cloud Architect will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud solutions to support complex federal programs. This role involves shaping cloud strategy, developing DevSecOps pipelines, and ensuring secure, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud architectures. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with stakeholders to assess technology stacks, provide architectural guidance, and implement scalable solutions using AWS PaaS and SaaS services. They will also mentor technical teams, conduct architecture walkthroughs, and contribute to Agile development processes. The position offers the opportunity to influence critical infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency, and apply cutting-edge cloud technologies in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud architectures and DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Assess existing technology stacks and provide architectural recommendations for cloud-native migration.
- Implement Proof of Concepts to validate solutions and guide technical decisions.
- Conduct architecture walkthroughs for stakeholders and provide clear, actionable guidance.
- Ensure all cloud solutions meet security, compliance, and operational excellence standards.
- Support Agile development processes including daily standups, sprint refinements, and demos.
- Provide thought leadership on cloud platform technology, automation, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering and/or cloud services development.
- Strong expertise in AWS services, including VPC, subnets, DNS, EC2, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, ELK, EKS, and IAM.
- Hands-on experience creating DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines in AWS with high availability, performance, and security considerations.
- Familiarity with programming languages: Java, JavaScript, C# (.NET Core and Framework), MuleSoft, Angular, Swift, Node.js, Spring Framework, Spring Boot.
- Knowledge of cross-platform scripting languages and build tools: Python, Artifactory, Groovy, Maven, MS Build, Nexus, NuGet.
- Understanding of APIs, WebHooks, REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, SMTP, and SQL query.
- Strong knowledge of security tools and practices: SonarQube, Micro Focus Fortify, Nexus IQ, and automating security in CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with SOA, microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-ready SaaS/PaaS solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Federal government experience is a plus, particularly in supporting scientific or data-intensive applications.
Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Redis, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, and vector databases
