Mechanical Quality Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Mechanical Quality Engineer who will ensure our products meet the highest quality standards while taking ownership of quality assurance processes and driving results. This role requires working closely with engineering drawings, defining measurement methods, and preparing PPAP documentation for customer submissions. The ideal candidate is strong, independent, and experienced in stamping, machining, fabrication, progressive die, and sheet metal industries, with the ability to work confidently and effectively with minimal supervision while ensuring compliance with all quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and interpret engineering drawings and define measurement methods.
• Prepare and submit PPAP documentation for customers.
• Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Inspect and test materials, equipment, and products for quality.
• Investigate and resolve product or production issues.
• Develop and implement corrective actions and improvement plans.
• Create and maintain inspection procedures and quality plans.
• Analyze quality performance data and provide insights.
• Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams regarding quality issues.
• Support project managers in addressing customer complaints.
• Work with suppliers to meet technology and quality requirements.
• Track supplier performance and ensure adherence to milestones.
• Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and supplier training.
• Respond quickly to customer feedback and coordinate corrective actions.
• Drive supplier continuous improvement plans to improve PPM scores.
• Help suppliers establish and strengthen quality management systems using audits, control plans, and process capability tools.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Strong mechanical background desired; knowledge of plastic injection molding & tooling, metal stampings & tooling, metal fabrication and machining etc.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings (6 sigma training desired)
• Quality Engineering experience in SPC, DOE, CAPA, LEAN, 5S, Core Tools, QC7Tools.
• Experience with Quality Systems ISO9001/IATF;16949
• Blueprint, drawing 2D, 3D and quality manufacturing tool experience and measure methods.
• Experience and Knowledge with preparing PPAP Documentation for Customer Submissions (Production Part Approval Process)
• Understanding of the quality system, medical and commercial regulatory requirements and how they relate to the business.
• Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio) and e-mail skills required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
