ABOUT IREX
IREX is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to building a more just, prosperous, and inclusive world by empowering youth, cultivating leaders, strengthening institutions, and extending access to quality education and information.

Through the World Smarts Changemakers project, IREX, in collaboration with partners in Guatemala, will engage U.S. and Guatemalan middle and high school youth in a virtual exchange program that aims to develop global competence, problem-solving and English-Spanish language skills. The project will connect a total of 1140 Guatemalan and U.S. intermediate students and 60 educators in cross-cultural teams via community-based activities to collaboratively discuss and design sustainable solutions that address real-world local problems based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Binational teams will be engaged in a 9-week project-based learning curriculum, the World Smarts Changemakers, where they interact and collaborate through digital technologies (Zoom, Padlet, etc.).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Guatemala Virtual Exchange Consultant will be responsible for the coordination and monitoring of progress with the local implementing partner and liaising between IREX team members in Washington D.C. on reporting and compliance issues in addition to day-to-day management of World Smarts Changemakers project activities.

For any work required beyond the agreed upon consultancy period (approximately six months), a consultancy modification will be required to extend the time period and potential scope of work and deliverables, depending on the interest and/or ability of both parties. IREX can hire the Virtual Exchange Consultant up to 12 months without further competition (or up to 3 years based on IREX Procurement Policy).
