Summary

As Senior Scrum Master at IOHK you will be a key contributor on a team developing leading edge technology in one of the most exciting fields in the world. You will be aware of purpose and risks & opportunities on the requests and drive the team thinking towards it. You will play a crucial role leading the team or multiple teams through Scrum activities including planning, execution and monitoring to project completion. You will also be training other Scrum Masters and offering support and managing work of multiple Scrum teams, ensuring the highest level of collaboration and coordination between the teams.

Duties

  • Leads the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles as defined within the scrum guide promoting the team's ability to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Assesses and develops the developments plans to achieve the Scrum team maturity towards becoming a self-managed team
  • Servant Leader who guides the team on self-management. Providing guidance and coaching on delivery techniques and process within the Scrum framework
  • Facilitating and guiding cross-functional teams in the execution of multiple development projects using the principles of the Agile framework (SAFe)
  • Managing scrum processes
  • Acting as a role model for servant leadership
  • Work with the organization, and coaches them to higher levels of maturity
  • Work with the organization to build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving.
  • Work with relevant parties to remove any reported impediments that obstruct a development team's ability to work well together and deliver valuable software. Notice differences and issues as they arise, and first attempt to facilitate a resolution among the affected team(s) before elevating issues to management.
  • Be a voice of reason and help facilitate the decision making process for tough decisions. Ensure the team’s needs/concerns are heard while adhering to Agile/Scrum concepts and principles.
  • Work, collaborate, and communicate effectively, internally and externally, improving transparency and sharing information.
  • Organize and facilitate all Scrum Events and team meetings, including preparing, moderating, and post processing.
  • Assist the Product Owner and the teams with Product Release planning
  • Work with the Product Owner and the team to constantly prioritize the backlog in order for the the most valuable features to meet deadlines
  • Support and educate the product owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog and release plan.
  • Improve personal skills, continually learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself as well as help improve the team.
  • Protecting the team from outside interruptions and distractions.
  • Enables organizational effectiveness –Senior Scrum Master works with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to help the team contribute towards improving the overall development Value Stream

Requirements

Key Competencies

  • 5 years of experience in a scrum master role
  • Familiarity with software development including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment processes
  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
  • Good knowledge of other Agile frameworks (Kanban, XP, SAFe etc.)
  • Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Virtual/Remote Team Leadership experience with global coverage
  • Empathetic, compassionate and persuasive
  • Active listener

Education / Experience

  • Pre certification of CSM or PSM
  • Desirable certification of PSM2 or A-CSM and other Agile certifications such as Lean, SAFe, PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM
  • Blockchain Development experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences or similar field
  • Certified Scrum Master Certification
  • Proficient in JIRA and its roadmap plugins (BigPicture, Structure, etc)
  • Knowledge and understanding of SDLC
