The change you can make:

As the Director of Venture Operations you will report into the CPO and your responsibilities include evolving the design of our venture ‘spinout’ process (we call this the Orbit Model). You will be accountable for applying the spin-out process to our venture teams and ensuring the successful exit of our current and future ventures (Spin Out Journey) into new legal entities as well as maintaining impactful relationships with our ventures (Orbit Lifecycle Management). You will play a critical role in driving change and evolving IOG’s culture across IOG and our ventures.

What the role involves:

As the Director of Venture Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the mobilization of our spin outs, including but not limited to:

  • Spin Out Journey Definition: Develop and implement spin out operational processes and policies that align with our business strategy while overseeing their effectiveness. This includes developing criteria for stage gates to progress our ventures through the journey.
  • Spin Out Success Management: You will lead the team of spin out success managers who will support our ventures going through the spin out journey to exit, collecting best practice and learnings from the experiences of other ventures.
  • Spin Out Mobilization: Lead the implementation of the spin-out process, coordinating activities across internal teams and ventures while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Lead the mobilization of spin-out initiatives and establish governance structures to ensure seamless transitions. Work with ventures to prepare for stage gates and provide spin out expertise, utilizing our strong network and ecosystem.
  • Relationship & Stakeholder Management: Once our ventures are spun out, maintaining impactful relationships with our ventures (Orbit Lifecycle Management). You will be the POC into IO Core for the leadership team of our ventures.
  • Integration Coordination: In line with our business objectives, you will coordinate between our ventures and the IO Core shared service providers while ventures are consuming services from IO Core.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: You will challenge the norm and strive for relentless improvement. Foster a culture of innovation within the Spin Out Mobilization team by identifying and implementing creative solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Spin Out process.
  • People Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing spin out mobilization team while providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members.

Requirements

Essential Experience, Skills & Qualification you will bring to our team include:

  • Programme management and project management qualifications.
  • You are passionate leader and experienced +5 years in mobilizing and operating in a Ventures, a Venture Studio, M&A or start/scale-up environment
  • You have a proven track record in successfully leading and improving businesses mobilization, ideally in a fast-changing technology industry
  • You are skilled at managing multiple priorities and promoting ongoing improvement.
  • Organizational skills are your superpower; You are a strategic thinker, who celebrates achieving your teams successful outcomes
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills and can turn a vague problem into a detailed solution
  • You enjoy facilitating collaboration to overcome obstacles, achieve progress and manage competing priorities when people get stuck. Bottom line: you get stuff done and create momentum with your team
  • You are excited to have tremendous visibility and perspective into the operation of a venture studio and its ventures, and take the responsibility of being the single POC for the spin out journey very seriously
  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills, who can operate at a range of levels – both in terms of big picture thinking, thought leadership, and getting into the data and analysis
