We are currently seeking an exceptional professional to join us as EHS Manager.

About Role:

The EHS Manager – North America is responsible for leading the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across all operational locations within North America, this role ensures that all sites operate in full compliance with regional legislation and global EHS standards.

This role plays a key part in supporting the global EHS strategy, driving risk reduction, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The EHS Manager partners with site leadership, operational teams, and the Global EHS function to embed accountability, manage regional risk, and implement global initiatives effectively and consistently.

Regional EHS Governance:

  • Establish and maintain robust EHS management systems across all North American sites. Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regional regulations and corporate requirements through structured governance and assurance processes.

Business Partnering & Leadership Support:

  • Act as a strategic advisor to North American operations, helping site and country leaders understand and own their EHS responsibilities. Drive leadership accountability and integration of EHS into operational decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance Oversight
  • Monitor legislative developments across North American jurisdictions. Ensure effective systems are in place for legal compliance, reporting, permitting, and interaction with regulatory bodies.
  • Incident Management & Risk Mitigation
  • Lead investigations of significant incidents and high potential near misses. Ensure root cause analysis, corrective action, and knowledge sharing to reduce regional EHS risk and support global learning.
  • EHS Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain regional EHS metrics. Analyze trends, communicate insights to stakeholders, and identify priorities for continuous improvement aligned with business, ESG, and compliance goals.

Audit & Assurance:

  • Lead internal EHS audits across North American locations and support external assessments. Ensure findings are addressed, controls are effective, and lessons are captured as part of a robust governance cycle.
  • Capability Building & Culture Development
  • Build EHS capability by delivering training, supporting onboarding, and enabling leaders and teams to take ownership. Promote a proactive, inclusive safety culture across diverse work environments.
  • Global Integration & Initiative Support
  • Actively support global EHS programs, systems, and projects. Represent North America in global forums, contribute regional insight, and ensure the successful implementation of corporate EHS strategies

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and govern EHS frameworks, policies, and standards across North American sites in alignment with global and local requirements.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to embed EHS accountability and ensure a strong safety culture.
  • Interpret and apply regional legislation, ensuring legal compliance and proactive risk management.
  • Investigate significant incidents and support sites in applying structured root cause analysis and action tracking.
  • Monitor regional EHS data, report performance trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver EHS training, onboarding, and awareness initiatives to strengthen leadership capability.
  • Lead or participate in regional audits and support closure of non-conformities.
  • Work closely with the global EHS team to contribute to shared systems, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical/scientific field.

Preferred:

  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MSc in Environmental Management, Safety Leadership) or MBA with EHS/sustainability focus.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NEBOSH International Diploma, CSP, or equivalent regional certification (e.g., NSC).
  • ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification (preferred).
  • Professional membership (e.g., IOSH, IEMA, AIHA, IIRSM).
  • 5–10 years of progressive EHS experience, with at least 3 years in a regional or multi-site leadership role.
  • Proven knowledge of EHS legislation across North American countries (e.g., Canada & United States of America).
  • Experience in high-risk industries (aerospace, logistics, manufacturing, chemical) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead across cultures and influence cross-functional teams.
