Our client, a leading global IT solutions and services organisation, is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Events Director to oversee the planning, coordination, and flawless execution of a large-scale corporate event scheduled for June 2026. This individual will play a hands-on, behind-the-scenes leadership role, ensuring every aspect of the event runs smoothly, on time, and within scope. The ideal candidate is a seasoned events professional with extensive experience managing complex, high-profile events from inception through delivery. They will serve as both Project Manager (PM) and Project Owner (PO), coordinating internal teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure every element is executed to the highest standard. This role is suited to a disciplined, proactive, and solutions-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is skilled at managing logistics, budgets, and people across multiple time zones.
What you will do:
- Lead the end-to-end project management of the upcoming large-scale event, ensuring successful delivery by June 10, 2026.
- Oversee all logistical, operational, and production elements of the event, working closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
- Collaborate with event partners, creative teams, and production vendors to ensure alignment with the event vision and goals.
- Identify and address operational challenges, resolving issues quickly and effectively behind the scenes.
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and budgets, ensuring accountability across all workstreams.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among all parties involved, including senior leadership, project contributors, and third-party suppliers.
- Review and refine event plans, ensuring that existing frameworks are optimized for smooth execution.
- Provide leadership and direction during event execution, ensuring that all elements, from logistics and technology to attendee experience - run seamlessly.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to identify successes and opportunities for future improvement.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in event management, event production, or experiential marketing within a corporate or agency environment.
- Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale, high-profile events.
- Strong background in project management, including coordination of cross-functional teams and vendor management.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and “make things happen” under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Experience managing budgets, timelines, and operational logistics in complex, global environments.
- Hands-on leadership style - comfortable working behind the scenes to ensure seamless execution.
- Based in South Africa with flexibility to collaborate remotely across global teams.
