Are you ready to save the planet?

We will help prevent a climate crisis by freeing the world from fossil fuels. Our breakthrough direct air capture technology captures CO2 from the atmosphere and produces hydrogen in parallel.

The clock is ticking. What are you waiting for?

Our goals are ambitious. We need people who are inspired and motivated to turn these aspirations into reality; to grow and develop with us.

How you'll contribute

You will take responsibility in conceptualizing, modeling, and validating complex engineering processes that underpin our DAC systems. Your deep simulation knowledge and structured approach will be critical in designing robust, scalable, and efficient plants.

Specifically, you will…

  • Design and validate system-level process simulations relevant to chemical and plant engineering.
  • Develop models and refine them with real-world data.
  • Evaluate and verify simulation outputs for plausibility and derive technical requirements together with the team of Process Engineers.
  • Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, including management and non-technical audiences.
  • Employ industrial-grade simulation tools (preferred Python) with a preference for AI-enhanced modeling.
  • Apply your knowledge of AI to support automation, pattern recognition, or predictive modeling in process development.
Your first 12 months in the role: expectations and deliverables
Months 0-3
  • Develop a deep understanding of Greenlyte’s DAC technology, system architecture, and engineering team workflows.
  • Define Simulation environment with Process team.
  • Begin reproducing baseline simulations from existing plant modules to understand critical parameters and identify gaps.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers to align on initial modeling objectives and key technical requirements.
Months 3-6
  • Integrate simulation outputs into broader engineering workflows to inform design decisions.
  • Begin development of AI-supported extensions: parameter optimization, anomaly detection, or predictive behavior modeling.
  • Coordinate with Process Engineers to derive actionable technical specifications based on simulation findings.
  • Engage with management to highlight model implications for system performance, scalability, and risk.
Months 6-12
  • Expand automation within the simulation pipeline to reduce manual overhead and accelerate iteration.
  • Deploy AI-enhanced tools for simulation-assisted decision making or real-time adjustments.
  • Lead internal workshops to align cross-functional teams on how simulation insights drive design evolution.
  • Contribute to roadmap discussions for simulation toolchain evolution and digital twin development.

About you

  • Degree in chemical, mechanical, or process engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in process or simulation engineering, ideally in an industrially relevant setting.
  • Strong first-principles thinking with a hands-on approach to modelling and simulate engineering challenges.
  • Proven ability to independently assess project feasibility, plan simulation studies, and validate outcomes.
  • Connection to AI: experience in applying or integrating AI techniques in simulation or process optimization.
  • Skilled in using advanced simulation tools relevant to industrial engineering.
  • Strong communicator, able to tailor technical content for decision-makers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English (German language skills not required).

What we offer

  • 30 days vacation plus public holidays to ensure you also have the down time needed to rest and recharge.
  • The possibility to grow and shape your role.
  • Working with founders who understand - and invest time in - the importance of building a healthy and sustainable organization.
  • Open and transparent communication on company development.

Noteworthy points

  • This role cannot be done fully remotely. We require someone who lives within commuting distance to Essen or is open to relocate which we are happy to support.
