Responsibilities:
- ·Install and configure operating systems and applications in hosted virtual and physical environments.
- ·Create Machine images/templates that are cross data center and cloud compatible for the intended application stack.
- ·Work with various teams in the organization to gather requirements, plan and execute tasks to support application deployments from end to end.
- ·Engage with team members and members across various groups to coordinate and troubleshoot issues as they emerge across teams in the organization.
- ·Establish operational and security rules based on the criteria and enforce them to control and manage process and data flows from inside and outside the organization.
- ·Monitor infrastructure and application stack across teams to notify the responsible party and follow up to make sure the issues are acknowledged and are acted upon.
- ·Provide OS, Container and Application support to teams across time zones.
Requirements
- This position is a United States based, W2 employee. Candidates living in other locations will not be considered.
- Familiarity with Linux OS(RedHat, CentOS, Suse and Ubuntu) and expertise in configuring and tuning at least two of the four aforementioned operating system flavors to draw the best performance.
- ·Experience installing, configuring and tuning databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- ·Familiarity with NTP, DNS(bind, dnsmasq), SMTP(sendmail, postfix) and monitoring and visualization tools like Zabbix and Grafana.
- ·Strong experience with configuring, operating infrastructure and supporting DevSecOps efforts in at least one of the cloud providers and their native cloud offerings for various services like IBM Cloud, AWS, Google Cloud and MS Azure.
- ·Familiarity and experience managing package management tools like Spacewalk and RedHat Satellite.
- ·Strong grasp of Git protocol and experience with at least one of the source code management tools like GitLab, BitBucket or GitHub to automate configuration and implementation of pipelines using Jenkins.
- ·Strong Experience with elastic stack primarily ELK(ElasticSearch, LogStash and Kibana)
- ·Strong grasp of web concepts and proxy configurations to support request filtering, authentication and load balancing using web servers like Apache, Nginx and HAProxy.
- ·Good grasp of caching concept and experience using key value stores like Redis, Memcache, Cassandra or MongoDB.
- ·Experience working with various hardware and firmware vendors especially IBM and Supermicro.
- ·Experience configuring networks and troubleshooting network issues across a hybrid infrastructure.
- ·Experience with application deployment within containers with familiarity and expertise in container engines like Docker or Containerd and container management/orchestration frameworks like K8s. K3s, Rancher or native cloud offerings like AWS EKS, GCP GKE, Azure AKS or RedHat OpenShift.
- ·Experience with scripting to automate tasks and maintain environments and should be proficient in at least Shell(Bash) and Python.
- ·Must be willing to learn and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- ·Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain technical matters to a non-technical audience.
- ·Nice to have familiarity with Message queuing, event/stream processing and data management platforms like RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka and/or Apache Airflow.
