ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of an IT Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of our IT systems and infrastructure. They will work with a global tier 2 &3 IT engineering team and triage escalations from global NOC, and support Oracle Linux, Azure, Microsoft Windows, Dell Hardware, VPN, and desktop security. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our technology environment by ensuring triage of Oracle Linux servers keeping them patched and updated for continued business operations. The IT Engineer position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the success of our organization.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum of 5 years in IT operations and support.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and infrastructure components.
Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Azure), virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms.
Experience with IT security principles and practices, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and task orchestration.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in Oracle Linux
Experience in ServiceNow Help Desk System
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, deploy, and maintain IT systems, including hardware, software, networks, servers, and peripherals.
Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
Implement and enforce security measures to protect data, systems, and networks from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
Install and configure software applications and updates, ensuring compatibility and compliance with organizational requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement IT solutions that meet business needs and objectives.
Provide technical support and training to end-users, assisting them with IT-related issues and inquiries.
Maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, recommending improvements and innovations to enhance IT capabilities.
Participate in on-call rotation and off-hours support as needed to address critical issues and emergencies.
THE DEPARTMENT
The following teams make up the Technology department: Applications Development, Applications Support, and Engineering. The group identifies and develops technological strategies that support GVI’s business goals and objectives to ensure internal and external partners are provided with stable systems. These include: all desktop, network, phone and email systems, Support application, business applications (reservations and operations systems), websites, and Internet access. The technology department is driving the enhancement and implementation of technology to support Globus family of brands as a leader in the global Tourism and Travel industry.
