THE DEPARTMENT
The Information Systems department at the Globus Family of Brands is structured into three areas: Core Services, Tour & Cruise Technology Services, and Marketing Technology Services. This department plays a crucial role in developing and implementing technological strategies that support the company’s business objectives. Together, these teams ensure that the Globus Family of Brands maintains effective and reliable technological systems and applications that cater to both internal needs and external partnerships.
THE POSITION
The Development Manager leads our Tour & Cruise Technology Services teams within the Information Systems department. This role involves overseeing a team of developers, QA professionals, and technical business analysts to drive the development, enhancement, and maintenance of our Tour & Cruise solutions. The Development Manager will play a critical role in technical delivery and solution design, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 10+ years leading teams in a complex environment
- Strong understanding of working with Bespoke applications
- Experience working in payment gateways
- Functional knowledge of Azure SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, Cosmos DB, Power Platform, and DevOps.
- Strong experience in Agile Scrum, Scaled Agile, and Waterfall development methodologies.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field and/or 10+ years experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience working in a globally distributed team across multiple time zones
- Deep understanding of business and technology processes as well as software integration and implementation
- Experience working with outsource developers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Provide mentorship, set clear goals, and manage team performance.
- Technical Delivery: Coordinate and manage all phases of Agile project management for our Tour and Cruise Operations applications, including development, testing, deployment, and support. Ensure work is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Solution Design: Collaborate with other teams to ensure that the applications within the Tour and Cruise Operations portfolio integrate seamlessly with other enterprise systems, focusing on creating solutions that meet business needs. Will align solutions with other technical teams to ensure global solutions accommodate regional needs with a global vision.
- Resource Management: Efficiently allocate team resources and personnel to maximize productivity and meet project timelines. Monitor and adjust allocations based on project demands and team capabilities.
- Code Quality: Establish and enforce coding standards and practices to ensure high-quality software development. Conduct regular code reviews and promote the use of best practices and new technologies to maintain code integrity.
- Quality Assurance Oversight: Work closely with the QAs to define quality metrics and ensure that all deliverables meet the highest standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners. Ensure clear communication and alignment on project status, timelines, and deliverables.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in software development, testing, and maintenance.
CORE COMPETENCIESThe preferred candidate has experience in the following.
- Cloud Computing Platforms: Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, including services such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, Azure DevOps, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), is essential for deploying, managing, and scaling applications in the cloud.
- Leadership: Experience leading and mentoring high-performing multifunctional development teams, to drive accountability and project success. Experience in project or portfolio management.
- Microservices Architecture: Knowledge of designing, implementing, and managing microservices architectures using Microsoft technologies like Azure Service Fabric or Azure Functions can enhance the scalability, modularity, and resilience of applications.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Proficiency in setting up Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps ensures automated and reliable software delivery, leveraging Azure Pipelines, Azure Repos, and other Azure DevOps services.
- Tour and Cruise Operations: Experience with Tour and Cruise or hospitality operations processes and systems is a plus.
- Database Management: Proficiency in managing Azure SQL Databases, Oracle SQL Databases, Azure Cosmos DB, Mongo DB, and other database services, including database design, optimization, and administration, is crucial for effectively managing data-driven.
- Security Best Practices: Understanding security principles and best practices, including authentication and authorization mechanisms provided by Azure Active Directory and IDS, PCI compliance, data privacy compliance, and secure coding best practices, is essential for securing applications and data in our applications.
- Payment Processing Knowledge: General understanding of payment processing and configuration of payment gateway and processor setup.
- Performance Optimization: Skills in performance profiling, monitoring, and optimization techniques specific to Microsoft technologies enable you to identify and address performance bottlenecks effectively.
- Version Control Systems: Proficiency in Git, particularly within the context of Azure DevOps Repos, facilitates effective version management and collaboration among development teams.
- Technical Documentation: Strong skills in technical writing and documentation, including tools like Microsoft Word and Azure DevOps Wiki, support clear communication and knowledge sharing within the team.
