Established in 2015 through a partnership between Oceana, SkyTruth, and Google, we have grown to become a leading force in advocating for marine transparency.

Through our innovative mapping platform, Global Fishing Watch provides free access to near real-time data on industrial fishing activities. We utilize satellite imagery and machine learning to develop actionable insights that enhance our understanding of human impact on marine ecosystems. Our work is aimed at tackling illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, thereby supporting responsible and sustainable practices. By connecting scientific research with practical policy implementation, we aim not only to protect biodiversity but also to support the livelihoods that depend on healthy fisheries.
