General Dynamics UK Limited is a British subsidiary of the American defence and security corporation General Dynamics. Our customers, primarily the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and allied forces worldwide, face complex challenges in maintaining national security and operational effectiveness in an ever-evolving threat landscape. This is why we deliver critical solutions in two main areas: Land Systems and Mission Systems. We understand the imperative for reliable, cutting-edge technology to ensure the safety and success of those who protect us. Our commitment is to provide advanced capabilities that address these demanding requirements, from armoured fighting vehicles to sophisticated avionic and communication systems.

Our story in the UK began in 1962, initially as a marketing outlet for Computing Devices Canada. Over the decades, we have significantly expanded our footprint and expertise. Key milestones include the establishment of our Hastings facility in 1974, which became a centre for supplying avionics to crucial platforms like the Tornado GR1 and Eurofighter Typhoon. A pivotal moment was the award of the UK MoD Bowman contract in 2001, leading to the opening of our headquarters in Oakdale, South Wales. The Bowman system, a tactical communications program, has become integral to the British Armed Forces. More recently, our facility in Merthyr Tydfil has been central to the assembly, integration, and testing of the AJAX family of armoured fighting vehicles. We are dedicated to supporting our customers by providing the nation's primary land capabilities and advanced avionic solutions, ensuring they have the technological superiority to meet current and future operational needs. We also actively engage with and invest in our local communities, particularly through STEM initiatives and support for armed forces charities, recognizing that our success is intertwined with the well-being of the communities we operate in.
