GDIT is seeking a highly motivated DevOps / Systems Engineer Advisor to join our growing team to develop, support, and modernize mission-critical applications for our DHS customer. Our work depends on a DevOps / Systems Engineer Advisor joining our team to configure and baseline software and use automated tools to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications; prepare configuration documentation and review and recommend improvements to existing CM processes; and work proactively, collaboratively, and with an entrepreneurial spirit in providing O&M support (in the form of developmental engineering) to the customer and their Stakeholder communities in achieving their critical missions.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
- Sets up, maintains, and develops code baseline
- Creates and maintains processes for multiple environments
- Reviews build and deployment scripts
- Supports integration, operations, change management, and maintenance
- Supports CI/CD Development and Testing
- Supports policies, standards, guidelines, governance and related guidance for CI/CD operations and development
- Enables successful release management by moving code from Development and Testing environments to Staging and Production
- May serve as a team or task lead
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
- Required Experience: 8+ years of related experience
- Required Technical Skills: experience with build automation CM tools (e.g., Jenkins, Gitlab); experience implementing CI/CI pipeline; experience in Jira to support DevOps implementation in an Agile environment; experience with Oracle Database; experience with build-time dependency management (Maven, Ivy), unit testing and code-coverage tools (JUnit), and functional test automation techniques and tools (Selenium, etc.); and knowledge of source code control management systems and configuration management ( i.e. Git, Subversion, etc.), and of code branching/merging strategies
- Security Clearance Level: Public Trust (DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability)
- Required Skills and Abilities: adept at problem-solving, troubleshooting, collaboration, time management, multi-tasking, and task-ownership; excellent oral and written communication skills
- Preferred Skills: 10+ years of relevant experience; degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or related technical discipline; some experience in Postgres, PL/SQL, and SQL*Plus; some experience in UNIX/LINUX shell scripting; proven track record as a self-learner, keeping current with the latest techniques to include automated code scanning, automated testing, and continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts; Certifications - SAFe, SCRUM, or Kanban
