Program Support Specialist
GDIT manages the peer review of applications submitted to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). CPRIT was established to create and expedite innovation in the area of cancer research and to enhance the potential for a medical or scientific breakthrough in the prevention of cancer and cures for cancer, to attract, create, or expand research capabilities of institutions of higher education and other public or private entities, to promote a substantial increase in cancer research and in the creation of high-quality new jobs in Texas, and to develop and implement the “Texas Cancer Plan”. CPRIT supports a wide variety of grant award mechanisms relevant to cancer care through product development, prevention, and basic and clinical research programs that will significantly impact cancer care and treatment in Texas.

GDIT is currently recruiting a Program Support Specialist to join our team to support CPRIT’s scientific peer review process at various stages: application receipt and processing, compliance checks, reviewer support, peer review meeting support, and preparation of pre- and post-review documents and deliverables.

GDIT is currently recruiting a Program Support Specialist to join our team to support CPRIT’s scientific peer review process at various stages: application receipt and processing, compliance checks, reviewer support, peer review meeting support, and preparation of pre- and post-review documents and deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide Help Desk support for the three CPRIT programs, namely, Product Development, Prevention, and Research. Responsibilities include responding to e-mail and telephone inquiries for the CPRIT Help Desk; guiding and assisting the applicant and grantee community through the online processes for application and post-award submission; and preparing weekly and monthly Help Desk reports.
- Provide support for peer review meetings. Responsibilities include gathering and formatting of reviewer materials (tax documents, biographies, etc.) assistance with meeting registration; organizing, preparing, and disseminating materials before, during, and after peer review meetings; interfacing with reviewers to help with meeting-related questions; technical support for virtual peer review meetings.
- Perform administrative review of applications to ensure that submissions are compliant with stated guidelines.
- Participate in various phases of set-up for each program, including set-up Quality Control (QC); complete set-up of program-specific templates for peer review; prepare and finalize a variety of pre- and post-peer review deliverables (requests for applications, summary statements, score reports), including pre-delivery QC.
- Provide administrative support for processing and tracking post-award evaluations of progress report evaluations.
- Participate as a member of the team in improving and executing a repeatable, transferable, scalable, and process-driven infrastructure.
- Complete ad hoc administrative tasks, as needed.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree with 0+ years of experience.
- Written and oral communication skills: Able to represent the client on the phone and in email, using professional (non-colloquial) English, using correct grammar and spelling; Able to project a calm, competent, and empathetic persona on the phone
- Interpersonal skills: Being flexible, adaptable, cooperative, and supportive of team members; Able to instill trust in interactions with team members
- Organizational skills and working style: Able to both follow directions and work independently; Able to effectively and efficiently multitask; Careful attention to detail
- Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat

- For recent college graduates, a record of maintaining a GPA of at least 3.3 while working at least 15 hours/week during the school year
