We are seeking a highly skilled Database Analyst with over 3 years of experience in Application Modernization to join our dynamic team. The position will play a critical role in the modernization of the Delivery Operations Information System (DOIS) for the United States Postal Service (USPS). The Database Analyst will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing databases for the DOIS modernization project for USPS. The individual will leverage AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to enhance database development and management processes.

HOW A DATABASE ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust database solutions that support the DOIS modernization project.
- Utilize AI tools like GitHub Copilot for database optimization, code generation, and refactoring.
- Manage data migration from legacy systems to cloud-native databases (e.g., AWS Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL).
- Implement data retention and archiving strategies that comply with USPS’s data governance policies.
- Collaborate with data analysts and developers to ensure seamless data integration and accessibility.
- Conduct database performance tuning and optimization to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Develop and implement database security protocols to protect against unauthorized access and ensure compliance with USPS security standards.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks including backups, indexing, and patch management.
- Document database architectures, designs, configurations, and procedures.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, preferred but not required.
- If there is no relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in database engineering and management.
- Experience with AI tools, particularly GitHub Copilot, for database development.
- Strong understanding of data migration, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS) and microservices architecture.
Required skills:
- Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders.
Desired Skills:
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty).
- Experience in a USPS environment or similar federal IT projects.
- Certification in database management (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
- Familiarity with modern database technologies and platforms such as Databricks, MongoDB, and other relational and non-relational database systems.
- Experience with Version One Agile Lifecycle Management Tool.

The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Scheduled Weekly Hours:
