Summary

We’re seeking a mission-driven Product Lead to define and drive the strategy for our sample/report data capture capabilities, with a focus on streamlining and automating operational data entry workflows throughout the sample lifecycle. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and create a more robust, automated experience for multiple operations user personas.

This position is responsible for shaping how GeneDx captures, structures, and leverages data to support accurate and streamlined accessioning workflows; clinical review of sample, test, and patient data workflows; clinical abstraction workflows that assist with case analysis; and report delivery workflows. You will lead initiatives that surface key opportunities, define success metrics, and deliver high-impact solutions that enhance internal operations. This includes simplifying and automating complex workflows from order intake through report distribution, minimizing manual effort, leveraging machine learning capabilities, and identifying opportunities for automation and scalability.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of how technology, data, and process improvement drive lab operations—and the ability to translate complex challenges into streamlined, data-driven solutions aligned with GeneDx’s long-term vision. By improving the quality and efficiency of multiple operational user personas, you will contribute directly to stronger operational yield and better-informed decision-making across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the product strategy, roadmap, and programs for data-driven sample/report data capture solutions that streamline operational workflows, maximize operational efficiency, and provide high quality data for internal and external use.
  • Lead cross-functional planning initiatives by collaborating closely with Accessioning, Genetic Counselor, Report Writing, Client Services, Account Management, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of business-critical initiatives.
  • Stay current as a subject matter expert on the latest trends in lab operations technologies, healthcare data standards, and machine learning/artificial intelligence technologies to inform product decisions.
  • Translate company strategy into scalable Sample/Report Data Capture features, services, and product capabilities that improve data quality while maximizing operational efficiency
  • Partner with Product Owners, respective Product Leads, Engineering, Design, and stakeholders to define, scope, and launch product capabilities; deliverables may include data flow maps, MVP plans, success metrics, and coordinating dependencies
  • Define and track KPIs such as:
    • Accessioning turn-around-time (TAT)
    • Accession checking TAT
    • Clinical Abstraction TAT
    • Sample receipt to report delivery TAT
    • Reduction in manual interventions/data errors

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in lab operations and lab report writing processes and systems
  • 6+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years in lab enterprise or clinician-facing tools and applications 
  • Deep understanding of healthcare provider workflows; experience with diagnostic ordering, EMRs, and test interpretation tools preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills paired with excellent execution and attention to detail.
  • Deep empathy for end users—providers, enterprise customers, patients, and caregivers— and a commitment to making their experience simpler, faster, and more empowering.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, digital transformation, human-centered design, and modern product discovery/delivery practices.
  • A sense of ownership, humility, and mission-driven motivation to improve lives through better healthcare.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS) or clinical training is a plus

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
