Frontend Engineer

We’re looking for a top-tier Frontend Engineer who has an eye for detail and is committed to delivering top-notch quality. You will play an integral role in developing and growing our flagship product - Setmore.

As a Frontend Engineer, you will be responsible for crucial aspects of our product development and architecture. Working closely within a component team, alongside various specialists and business stakeholders, you'll be pivotal in shaping our NextGen engineering culture. You will be a key player in guiding decisions regarding architecture, engineering and design decisions for new UI development across our products.

Responsibilities:

• Drive our efforts in designing front-end architecture.

• Consistently develop new features.

• Write high-performing, clean code that is easy to test and maintain.

• Perform regular code reviews.

• Passionately pursue zero-defect code and support other developers to ensure the deliverables exceed business expectations.

• Create and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation to support effective collaboration and understanding across teams.

• Identify, troubleshoot and promptly resolve front-end issues and bugs to ensure a smooth user experience.

• Assist in defining and refining our internal standards, practices, and processes to continuously improve our outcomes.

• Champion performance, reliability, and security of our products and services across multiple devices and browsers.

• Advocate for adopting established design principles, accessibility guidelines, and UX standards.

Requirements

Must have

• 3+ years of experience building scalable and maintainable cross-platform web applications using modern technologies.

• Excellent working knowledge of frontend technologies including React 18+, TypeScript, Webpack, and React testing library.

• Good working knowledge of React Design Patterns: Micro Frontends React Context REST API SPA.

• Strong experience working with backend engineers on API design and integration, API versioning and change management.

• Strong experience writing high-quality, well-organised UIs and patterns that scale well over time. Modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid, CSS-in-JS) Build tools (Vite, ESBuild) Responsive design and mobile-first approach committed to writing clean code and following best software development practices and standards.

• Experience dealing with performance and optimisation problems, particularly at large scale; must have a demonstrated ability to diagnose and prevent these problems.

• Experience in refactoring code to improve the design and structure of the product. Ability to be an individual contributor and a proactive team player based on the requirements of the hour.

• Ability to navigate the challenges and maximise opportunities that arise while working in a remote environment with diverse global teams using various modes of communication and information sharing.

• Commitment to proactive collaboration with relevant colleagues across the organisation to problem solve while being empathetic towards their work and ideas.

• C1 level of English language proficiency (both written and verbal).

• Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical ideas, architectural concepts, and/or organisational problems.

Good to have

• Experience in implementing solutions with WCAG standards.

• Working experience in SaaS products Experience in building a product from scratch.

• Keen interest in maintaining or contributing to open-source repositories.
