Who we’re looking for

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Software Delivery Manager to join our growing team. This role can be based anywhere in New Zealand.

As a Software Delivery Manager in the Flux product team, you’ll be accountable for the successful delivery of multiple software projects across Product & Engineering in parallel, defining and implementing consistent delivery standards and practices as well as excelling as a people leader, fostering the professional growth of your Product Owners. To achieve these goals you will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering Managers, Client representatives, Project Managers for client portfolios and Finance.

You will be responsible for

Software Delivery Management:

  • Forward plan work together with Flux stakeholders on a 12-24 months horizon and ensure the plan is being kept up to date
  • Oversee the delivery of multiple projects of Product & Engineering teams concurrently as a leader of leaders, empowering Product Owners and their Team Leads / Teams to:
    • Develop project plans with clearly defined and communicated project outcome, scope, and deliverables that align with overall Flux and client objectives.
    • Execute work according to the plan, manage change requests
    • Track projects to outcome, time and effort
    • Identify potential risks and issues, address challenges proactively and develop mitigation plans to minimise project disruptions and delays, as well as communicate progress clearly to relevant stakeholders
    • Ensure project retrospectives are held to identify lessons learned and implement improvements for future projects
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Quality Practice Lead and Principal Engineer to ensure high-quality standards are met and product-, engineering- and quality practices are adhered to
  • Collaborate with Project Managers for client portfolios of work to identify, where deeper involvement of Project Managers is needed to plan work or get work back on track

Delivery standards and practices:

  • Develop and implement frameworks, processes and tools to ensure Product Owners and Team Leads can successfully plan and deliver projects.
  • Coach and mentor Product Owners and Team Leads to deepen their delivery skill set to an extent, that they can self sufficiently manage the delivery of their work

People Management for Product Owners:

  • Lead, grow and develop direct reports
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Design to identify skill building initiatives to deepen the product and design methodologies of our Product Owners and grow them in their career

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain open and transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing regular updates on planned work, progress of in-flight work as well as identified challenges and the actions taken to address them

Other relevant responsibilities as required

The knowledge, experience, and skills you bring to this position include:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in delivering software development projects and programs in a B2B environment with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Business acumen and a strong commercial mindset
  • An ability to quickly comprehend and navigate between the high level strategic perspective and diving into the details to solve current problems
  • The will to move forward, make a difference and have impact
  • Energy Industry experience preferred
