Job Summary

The Compliance Specialist role focuses on support for internal staff, identifies compliance parameters for plans sponsored by employer clients, and provides other support for client employers and partner advisors. The Compliance Specialist reports to the Director of Regulatory Services.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a compliance contact and resource for internal team.
- Manage or assist in managing Form 5500 filing services and some Wrap Documents, including ongoing communications with client employers and partner advisors.
- Provide timely responses and research support for certain internal staff and client questions, with a focus on reimbursable expenses, participant appeals, SBCs, and nondiscrimination testing matters.
- Assist in reviewing and improving internal compliance processes and procedures.
- Prepare correspondence and coordinate calls or meetings with employer clients to address and resolve issues relating to plan compliance (with a focus on Form 5500 filings and nondiscrimination testing issues).
- Assist in providing updates and training on relevant regulatory changes and key compliance topics, and coordination with our Compliance Partner.
- Perform certain internal compliance work for certain POP, FSA, HRA, HSA, transit, and COBRA, MTEAP and other plans or accounts, as requested.
- Coordinate responsibilities with other Compliance Specialist(s) and Compliance Partner.
- Manage or coordinate certain specific tasks as designated and needed.
- Stay up to date on industry developments to be an effective compliance resource for staff and clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are
- Preferred, a graduate of a bachelor’s degree program but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with formal employee benefits or health care experience preferred, but not required.
- An individual who performs effectively in a business environment, is challenged by the employee benefits industry, and is interested in a compliance advisory role.
- A detail orientated individual with strong organizational and prioritizing skills, and the ability to be flexible and multi-task in a collaborative environment.
- Able to confidently use independent judgment and expertise to support clients, in addition to possessing proficient technology skills.
- Someone with strong written and verbal communication skills who understands that our business objective is to provide superior customer service and can handle conflict in a professional manner.
- Someone who is effective at individual or group presentations.
- An internally motivated individual looking to grow personally and professionally and can work with others in a team environment.
- A qualified candidate who possesses above average analytical (including statutory and regulatory interpretation) and problem-solving skills.
- An individual that understands the value of providing a high level of customer service.
Work Environment
Flores’ standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET with an hour lunch. Roles may be approved for other schedules by managers. This role operates in a professional office environment. To be considered for this role, you must reside in one of the following states —AZ, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV. This role is mostly sedentary and consists of prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. This role also utilizes other tools such as a phone, copy machine, and printer. Common programs often used are Outlook, Word, and Excel. This position frequently communicates with Flores team members and candidates and must be able to exchange accurate information clearly in these situations.
