As a Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) on the Tools and Frameworks team at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you will help design and scale the automation frameworks, tools, and infrastructure that power our engineering ecosystem. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll work across multiple product lines to enable faster, more reliable delivery through test automation and CI/CD innovation.
This role is ideal for engineers who are passionate about building test systems, collaborating closely with developers, and driving measurable improvements in quality, velocity, and developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Fanatics Betting & Gaming’s platforms and systems.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable automation frameworks and tools for web, mobile, API, and performance testing.
- Build and enhance test infrastructure within CI/CD pipelines to improve release velocity and quality.
- Partner with engineers and SDETs across teams to improve system testability and ensure consistent quality practices.
- Investigate and evaluate new testing frameworks, libraries, and tools, providing recommendations and prototypes.
- Collaborate with engineering and product leaders to define quality metrics and ensure visibility into testing outcomes.
- Participate in team planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives, bringing a quality-first perspective.
- Be open to occasional travel for offsites, team meetings, and industry events.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of professional experience in software development or test automation, with a focus on building and scaling automation frameworks, tools, or infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of test infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation best practices.
- Experience with Git, Unix/Linux, Docker, and at least one modern test framework (e.g., PyTest, JUnit, TestNG).
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with experience building or extending test automation frameworks and libraries.
- Familiarity with common web and mobile testing frameworks and tools.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and test automation methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with engineers to implement tools and practices that balance quality and productivity.
- Strong problem-solving skills; able to navigate ambiguity and think abstractly.
- Experience with Agile or Scrum software development methodologies.
- Positive, flexible, and adaptable mindset, eager to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in betting and gaming is a plus.
- Prior experience in the betting and gaming industry will be a plus

The expected salary range for this role is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for the Fanatics Betting and Gaming annual bonus program and an equity award. *Salary range is listed in USD; actual salary will vary based on location. *Salary Range: $132,000 - $165,000 per year (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location). In addition to base salary, bonus, and equity, full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid time off, and other benefits like GymPass, Pet Insurance, Family Care Benefits, and more. Remote employee may also be eligible for a home office setup stipend.
