WHAT YOU WILL DO:.
We are seeking a highly experienced Smart Workspace Lead Technician with a strong background in electrical systems and commercial lighting installations. This hands-on leadership role involves managing onsite installations of smart workspace technologies, including AV, IoT, low-voltage systems, and the installation and hanging of commercial lighting fixtures. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has an expert-level understanding of electrical work, and can lead technicians and contractors through high-visibility projects with precision and professionalism.
This role will require extensive travel and the candidate must be located near a major airport (e.g. DFW, JFK, ATL)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and execute the installation of commercial electrical lighting fixtures, including mounting, wiring, and testing for full functionality and compliance.
- Supervise and coordinate field technicians during staging, installation, and de-installation of AV/IoT/low-voltage equipment.
- Oversee and validate quality of all electrical and smart workspace installations, ensuring alignment with project specs, safety codes, and industry best practices.
- Configure and troubleshoot endpoints, AV systems, IoT devices, and related infrastructure components.
- Perform comprehensive site audits, readiness assessments, and technology checks for optimal workspace functionality.
- Complete post-installation testing, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and documentation.
- Manage break/fix and RMA processes, acting as the technical escalation point for field issues.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and MOPs.
- Liaise with third-party vendors and contractors, providing project oversight and guidance as needed.
- Lead rack builds, cable management, and end-to-end system deployments.
- Maintain accurate reporting and documentation throughout all phases of the project.
- Travel nationally and internationally to customer sites based on project demands.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Extensive experience installing and wiring commercial electrical lighting fixtures (required).
- Background in field team leadership across AV, electrical, or smart workspace deployment projects.
- Hands-on expertise with low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems, terminations, and equipment configuration.
- Ability to lead technical projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in physically active job sites.
- Demonstrated success in high-pressure environments, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused demeanor.
- Valid passport and availability for international and domestic travel as required.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
- Eligible and authorized to work and travel based on client site access requirements.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
