We are seeking a Strategic DC Design Consultant with well-rounded engineering, analytic, and business experience to join consulting our team. This candidate will ensure successful execution of activities related to assigned consulting projects that include strategic distribution center (DC) design, existing DC optimization, automated material handling equipment evaluations, SKU and inventory slotting, and other related supply chain projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in Industrial Engineering principles, distribution operations, analytic toolsets, lean process mapping, and general problem-solving to drive value to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the activities of designated DC design projects to ensure project deliverables are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
  • Consult with clients and internal resources to define problems/opportunities and provide appropriate recommendations for possible design solutions.
  • Confer with project staff across multiple projects to outline work plans and to support required duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Build consensus among multiple project leads relative to project scope, task execution, staffing, and issue resolution.
  • Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Interact with project sponsors, stakeholders, and various project members to ensure that specified business needs are met; Assist in the post-implementation analysis to ensure that the requirements are fulfilled.
  • Actively complete training activities to drive further enhancements and adoption of enVista’s technologies and processes.
  • Support the creation of project documentation including integration plans, analysis and design documents, status reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Support the distribution of client and strategic partner communication related to assigned projects.
  • Resolve project issues, mitigates risks, and manages scope change requests; Ensures completion of project deliverables in a timely manner; escalates issues when necessary
  • Prepare, maintain and proactively manage the project communication plan to the stakeholders and keep track of project communication materials

Education, Skills and Experience Needed:

  • Educational background in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar
  • Prefer 1-5 years of distribution center design experience, or similar
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of warehousing and supply chain fundamentals as well as supporting equipment and technologies
  • Ability to assist in the managing of complex projects within cross-functional project teams; Experience supporting project management activities, including the ability to deliver a high-quality design solution within budgeted time.
  • Analytic abilities required to translate large datasets into project insights; Minimum of intermediate-level skills required with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; AutoCAD experience a plus; Must have working knowledge of relational database, such as MS Access, SQL, or similar
  • Lean and/or Six-Sigma experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly-complex environment using leading-edge technology
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; Ability to clearly/concisely communicate with clients, associates, management, and general stakeholders; Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Assist in executing project hand-offs by ensuring that activities, expectations, and client responsibilities are transitioned to respective teams
  • Ability to establish solid relationships with clients in support of initiatives; Ability to negotiate and manage outside vendors and strategic partners against deliverables
  • Willing to travel to client sites, at times up to 40% over an extended duration
