About the role and what you will be doing:

Ensono is seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer to support complex projects involving the installation, testing, and implementation of operating systems and system software. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor others while contributing to cross-functional initiatives and driving innovation across the organization.

Key responsibilities:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in mainframe systems programming.
  • Lead and support installation, maintenance, and debugging of mainframe system software.
  • Coordinate IOGEN work for new mainframe hardware.
  • Research and evaluate new software and hardware products.
  • Provide technical consultation and training to associates.
  • Actively contribute to the domain’s body of knowledge and thought leadership.
  • Collaborate across organizational boundaries to deliver high-quality client outcomes.
  • Understand and consider financial implications of technology decisions.
  • Design creative and cost-effective solutions using “out-of-the-box” thinking.
  • Apply strong analytical skills to synthesize complex inputs into actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor and tune system software for optimal performance.
  • Maintain functional knowledge of z/OS components and support products (e.g., tape management, scheduling, security, monitoring systems).

Preferred:

  • Ability to define technical strategies within the team and broader unit.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance across teams and towers.
  • Recognized Subject Matter Expert in storage tools and processes.
  • Proven track record as a Technical Expert Adviser.
