Enapter AG is an innovative energy technology company dedicated to driving the global energy transition by replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen. The company manufactures highly efficient hydrogen generators, known as Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolysers. This patented and proven AEM technology enables the series and mass production of cost-effective, plug-and-play electrolysers for green hydrogen production at any scale and in virtually any location. Enapter's vision is to create a world where fossil fuels are obsolete, and green hydrogen, generated from renewable energy sources, powers the globe. Their mission is to make green hydrogen affordable and accessible to everyone by significantly reducing the cost of water electrolysis, aiming for hydrogen to be competitive with fossil fuels.

Founded in 2017 by Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, with Jan-Justus Schmidt and Vaitea Cowan as co-founders, Enapter has rapidly grown, establishing its headquarters in Germany and an R&D and production site in Italy. The company's modular AEM electrolysers are designed for scalability, allowing deployment as single units for smaller needs or combined en masse to achieve megawatt-scale hydrogen production. This modularity, inspired by the cost-reduction successes seen in solar panels and microchips through standardization and mass production, is central to Enapter's strategy. Enapter's AEM technology is distinguished by its use of a patented dry cathode and its avoidance of iridium or platinum group metals, which is expected to make AEM electrolysis the most cost-effective method. The company is also developing an Energy Management System Toolkit to connect various devices into a unified energy network and has introduced AI-powered software to optimize electrolyser performance. With a global presence, Enapter's products are utilized by over 340 customers in more than 50 countries across diverse sectors including energy, mobility, industry, heating, and telecommunications.
