About the role; Elsevier is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to join our Clinical Learning Hub (CLH)

In this role, you will lead, design, build, test, and maintain software solutions that enable reliable, scalable capabilities for our customers and internal users. You will collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality features, drive technical improvements, and mentor other engineers.

About the team; Clinical Learning Hub (CLH) is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering clinical evidence based clinical courses and lessons that educate and empower clinicians and staff. We design scalable, evidence-based educational programs, and curate resources that improve patient care, safety, and operational efficiency. Our team collaborates across disciplines to accelerate access to the latest knowledge, foster a culture of continuous learning, and leverage innovative tools to reach diverse learners. Responsibilities Include:

  • Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
  • Will be entrusted with mentoring other to continuous integration, delivery, and deployment software delivery practices.
  • Develop skills to Mentor less senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques
  • Identify operational requirements for logging, instrumentation and alerting and works with Senior II to ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices and code reviews.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex intermediate technical issues as necessary.
  • Participate in Pair Programming with squad members to support the learning and development of others.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of continuous Software delivery. Confident practitioner in development languages including but not limited to: React, Node, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, Unix, .Net
  • Aware of operational requirements and implementation for logging, instrumentation, and alerting. Proficient in implementing continuous integration, delivery, and deployment software delivery practices.
  • Ability to work closely with other development team members to understand product complex requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
  • Proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques
  • Understanding of normalized/dimensional data modelling principles
  • Knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems
  • Knowledge in using and developing in applicable toolsets
  • Ability to interface competently with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements
  • Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources
  • Ability to lead, guide, and mentor team members
  • Knowledge of test-driven development
  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $86,600 - $144,400. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.If performed in Maryland, the base pay range is $90,900 - $151,700.If performed in New Jersey, the base pay range is $97,867 - $156,333.This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
