Join our dynamic team at EDF UK as a Regulatory and Licensing Officer, where your attention to detail, proactive approach, and excellent organisational skills will have a significant impact.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. The Regulatory and Licensing (R&L) Team is part of the Business Management and Governance Function within the Safety and Schedule Assurance Directorate supporting the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project. The R&L team manages the interface with our two key nuclear regulators (Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) & Environment Agency (EA)) creating the conditions of an open, honest and efficient relationship to support successful and timely delivery of the project whilst ensuring licensing and other regulatory requirements are met.

The team coordinate and provide expert advice and support to the business on compliance with the Nuclear Site Licence, including acting as secretariat for the NSL Compliance Group on behalf of the S&SA Director. Providing crucial support to ensure the Nuclear Safety Committee’s effective management. The team controls the Project Hold Point process ensuring effective management and appropriate governance is applied, acting as secretariat for meetings, and providing key interfaces between managers and the project, including S&SA directorate.

The salary range associated with this role is between £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. What You’ll Be Doing

You'll work across the team responsible for ensuring the regulatory interface arrangements (procedure, guidance, templates) are kept up to date, and provide advice and guidance to the Topic Leads and other people involved in interfacing or communicating with the regulators to ensure that a consistent, proportionate and managed approach to regulatory engagement is implemented.

Along with the rest of the team you'll be responsible for recording all formal interactions with the regulators, including issuing and distributing all formal correspondence to and from the regulators. Ensure the project complies with the Nuclear Site Licence by maintaining overarching compliance documents, as well as providing advice to the business. Work with the relevant Licence Condition owners.

Act as the secretariat of the Nuclear Site Licence Compliance Group meeting and recording the performance of compliance against the Licence Conditions. You'll be the secretariat for meetings with the regulators and other internal meetings, working closely with wide numbers of stakeholders and supporting the chair of the meetings to ensure successful and right first-time delivery.

Who You Are

You will bring to this role good organisational skills and the ability to work independently and be proactive. Hold a higher educational degree or equivalent, in a technical area. Able to work as an integral part of a team contributing to team success.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills notably throughout various levels of the organisation and externally. Flexible approach with the ability to multi-task and work on own initiative. Able to work with discretion/confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information. Attention to detail and the confidence to challenge. Experienced user of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Power BI. Previous experience in the energy industry or in a similarly highly regulated industry would be desirable.
