Opportunity The Technical Program Manager –Development is a key member of Edged Data Centers delivery team, responsible for driving the design process during the early phases of data center development. This role focuses on managing the design strategy from site selection through design completion, ensuring that engineering and design decisions support overall project objectives, delivery schedules, and long-term operational performance. You will collaborate closely with internal development teams and external design consultants to guide the engineering process, coordinate technical disciplines, manage the design in alignment with the project’s Basis of Design, and ensure the design progresses in line with key development milestones. This role requires someone who can balance technical understanding with development strategy—ensuring the design not only works on paper but also supports permitting, procurement, constructability, and schedule. Design Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the design management process during the early development phase of data center projects.
- Establish and manage design schedules aligned with development and permitting milestones.
- Ensure design decisions support overall project objectives including schedule, constructability, cost, and scalability.
Design Coordination
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and external consultants across all disciplines including civil, architectural, structural, and MEP.
- Manage the flow of information between development, engineering, and project teams.
- Lead regular design coordination meetings and track design progress against key deliverables.
Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance during the development phase, with a focus on mechanical and electrical infrastructure typical of data center environments.
- Review engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with project objectives and company standards.
- Support technical decision-making related to system layouts, equipment selection, and infrastructure strategies.
- Ability to evaluate design decisions through the lens of constructability, procurement timelines, and execution strategy.
Development Alignment
- Ensure the design supports development activities including site planning, permitting strategy, and procurement planning.
- Identify risks or design constraints early and coordinate solutions with engineering partners.
- Align design progression with project milestones such as concept design, permit design, and construction readiness.
Consultant Management
- Manage relationships with external engineering and design consultants.
- Ensure consultants meet schedule expectations and maintain design quality.
- Coordinate scope, deliverables, and review cycles across the design team.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 7–10 years of experience managing engineering or design for complex infrastructure projects
- Strong familiarity with data center infrastructure and mission-critical MEP systems
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to manage design schedules and drive engineering deliverables
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders
Preferred Experience
- Data center development or mission-critical facility design experience
- Experience working on projects during early development phases including site selection and concept design
- Familiarity with large-scale infrastructure or industrial development projects
- Experience coordinating with developers, consultants, and contractors during preconstruction phases
