Key Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
System Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve BMS and EPMS issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Provide incident management and emergency support for system breakdowns.
- Ensure BMS, EPMS, and SCADA systems operate as designed for power monitoring, capacity planning, and alarm management.
- Lead preventative maintenance planning and manage alarming for maintenance procedures.
Design & Commissioning
- Develop, modify, and validate control logic, sequences of operation (SOO), and graphical interfaces.
- Support commissioning activities and ensure compliance with design standards and local codes.
- Coordinate with contractors and integrators throughout project phases.
- Supervise vendor work and perform inspections of wiring, installation, and commissioning.
Documentation & Standards
- Prepare and maintain system documentation, test plans, SOPs, and change management records.
- Implement corporate standards and methods of procedure to optimize system performance.
Training & Collaboration
- Train internal teams on system design, configuration, and operation.
- Work closely with operations, project managers, engineers, and contractors on site-specific projects.
Flexibility & Travel
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide off-hour emergency support.
- Travel to data center sites as needed for troubleshooting and project support.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience with industrial automation or building control systems in mission-critical environments (data centers strongly preferred)
- Experienced in designing, programming, and maintaining:
◦ BMS platforms (Distech and/or Siemens preferred) ◦ EPMS and SCADA systems (Ignition and/or Niagara preferred) Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols including:
- Modbus TCP
- BACnet IP
• MQTT
Experience with:
- HVAC controls programming
- Electrical power monitoring and distribution systems
- Commissioning MEP systems in large-scale environments
Preferred Experience
- Data center controls design, commissioning, or operations experience
- Exposure to converged IT/OT networks and TCP/IP networking
• Familiarity with:
◦ Chilled water plant operations ◦ CRAH/CRAC units ◦ Critical electrical infrastructure (UPS, switchgear, generators)
- General contractor MEP coordination or project management background
- Vendor oversight and system integrator management
