The Liability Claims Adjuster is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of liability claims on behalf of our clients. This role requires independent judgment in determining compensability, coverage, liability, damages, and appropriate reserving, while ensuring claims are handled in compliance with client-specific guidelines, internal standards, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate liability claims to determine coverage, liability exposure, damages, and appropriate resolution strategy
- Analyze claim exposure and recommend the proper course of action to achieve timely and appropriate settlement outcomes
- Set, monitor, and adjust claim reserves in accordance with established reserving practices
- Communicate effectively with insureds, claimants, attorneys, clients, vendors, and other involved parties throughout the claim lifecycle
- Develop and coordinate litigation and defense strategies with assigned defense counsel when applicable
- Negotiate settlements and manage claims through resolution in alignment with client expectations and authority levels
- Ensure all claims are handled in accordance with client guidelines, Davies (PGCS) policies and procedures, and applicable statutory, regulatory, and ethical requirements
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation of all claim activity to support defensible claim outcomes
- Plan, prioritize, and organize workload effectively to meet service level expectations and deadlines

Skills, knowledge & expertise
- Working knowledge of liability claims handling practices and industry standards
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to evaluate documentation and settlement value
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage claims independently
- Proficiency with claims management systems and standard business software
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation quality
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle new challenges effectively
- One (1) or more years of liability or claims-related experience with demonstrated performance and achievement
- Four-year college degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
