The opportunity

Join our team as a Software Engineer – Workflows, contributing to the development and maintenance of science data processing pipeline solutions. This role suits an expert Python programmer with experience in scientific workflows and high-performance computing (HPC), who thrives in collaborative, purpose-driven environments.

Your high-level duties will include:

  • Analysing, designing, and implementing robust workflows for HPC data reduction pipelines.
  • Optimising and monitoring performance of data workflows, applying continuous improvement practices.
  • Collaborating with development, QA, science, and operations teams to support a DevOps culture.
  • Troubleshooting complex technical issues and contributing to best-practice testing in HPC environments.
  • Maintaining clear documentation for workflows, processes, and training.

Role particulars

Location and office arrangements: Perth (Kensington), WA or Sydney (Marsfield) NSW; hybrid working available.

Salary: AU$114,219.00 - AU$123,605.00 (pro rata for part-time), plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure & work schedule: Specified term of 2 years; full time

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree relevant to software engineering/computer science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience deploying and operating applications in Linux environments.
