Senior Engineering Manager - Business Solutions Engineering

What you’d be doing in this role

At Canva, we’re at an exciting inflection point. Our Technology Experience (TX) group is transforming how teams across Canva operate through AI and automation — and demand is growing fast.

As the Senior Engineering Manager for Business Solutions Engineering (BSE), you’ll lead a team that partners directly with business units to design and deliver end-to-end solutions. You’ll help shift IT from a tooling function to a true transformation partner, unlocking scalable impact across the company.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Leading Business Solutions Engineering, setting direction, priorities, and delivering high-impact transformation initiatives
  • Building deep partnerships with leaders across Finance, People, Legal, GTM and more to uncover and solve complex operational challenges
  • Driving end-to-end solution delivery — from discovery and design through to production-grade implementation
  • Coaching and growing a multidisciplinary engineering team, uplifting standards and ways of working
  • Identifying reusable components (APIs, integrations, automation patterns) and partnering with AI & Automation Platform teams to scale them
  • Pioneering pragmatic AI adoption, helping teams leverage LLMs and automation effectively
  • Hiring and developing exceptional engineering talent while contributing to Canva-wide hiring efforts

You’re probably a match if

• You have a strong hands-on software engineering background and have built production systems in complex, ambiguous environments
  • You’ve led and scaled high-performing engineering teams, with a passion for coaching and developing others
  • You’re experienced in system integration, APIs, and platform thinking across tools like Salesforce, Workday, or similar ecosystems
  • You bring strong cloud experience (AWS and/or GCP) and understand build vs buy trade-offs
  • You’ve applied AI/ML or automation technologies in real-world scenarios and understand their practical limitations
  • You’re an exceptional stakeholder partner — able to translate business needs into technical solutions and influence senior leaders
  • You thrive in ambiguity, take ownership, and bring an entrepreneurial mindset to solving problems

The Technology Experience (TX) group exists to make every Canvanaut more productive and effective. Within TX, the Transform pillar is focused on fundamentally changing how Canva operates through technology.

Business Solutions Engineering (BSE) sits at the heart of this — embedding with teams across Canva to deliver transformative solutions. Working closely with the AI & Automation Platform team, BSE creates a powerful feedback loop where every solution contributes to scalable, self-service capabilities across the company.
