Job Title: Vice President, Business Development, CRO Services

Job Location: United States, homebased

Job Overview:

Lead in the development and execution of the Caidya sales strategy and market-driven organization. This regional leader will expand market share while protecting profit margins. Secure growth of Caidya through developing sales plans, monitor, motivate, require prospecting and lead generation activities, oversee sales deal strategies, direct contract negotiations, and lead their respective regional Business Development team. This leader will support and foster customer and strategic relationships. This leader brings good business discipline within the organization and publicizing Caidya’s philosophies and strengths outside the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, on-board and develop a world-class sales team. Develop revenue projections and a sales plan to deliver those projections for the company. Position Caidya to maintain a secure sales pipeline of high margin opportunities. Monitor sales performance and implement changes in strategy as appropriate. Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting for the Executive Team.

  • Drive Caidya’s brand awareness within the region. Develop and nurture relationships at all levels between customers and Caidya. Assist in the determination of professional conferences to attend and represent Caidya as an Executive Leader.

  • Lead in driving business and financial discipline within the organization. In conjunction with Business Directors, oversee the bid strategy and submission of bids for the region.

  • Contribute to and execute long term strategic plans. Key advisor to the Chief Commercial Officer on a broad range of sales, marketing, budgeting, and operational issues impacting global sales.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides work direction and oversight of the regional Business Development team, including but not limited to Business Development Directors and Account Managers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements:

  • Education

    • Minimum BA or BS in Sales, Marketing, Business or life sciences field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience

    • 10+ years in the Contract Research Organization (CRO) industry with a minimum of 3+ years in a sales leadership position.

  • Skills/Competencies

    • Proven closed sales success both individually and as a sales leader within the CRO industry.

    • Has demonstrated the ability to envision and accomplish necessary changes. Demonstrates mature management by with a calm, positive winning attitude and a record of excellent decision-making.

    • Comfortable communicating both inside and outside to company. Can demonstrate success in building effective, high-level relationships with customers. Has successfully inspired staff to implement changes and to meet goals.

    • Can relate a consistent record of mentoring and developing others. Can site instances of growth and achievement of subordinates. Can demonstrate a record of identifying opportunities for improvement and creating solutions.

    • Effective participant as a team member and team leader. Can demonstrate significant positive participation in successful teams.

    • Leader in pursuing positive improvements.

  • Capabilities

    • Can demonstrate effective management of remote salespeople. Can cite examples of developing people and solving customer problems.

    • Knowledge of and presence in the CRO industry, and in-depth knowledge of the drug development process. Knowledgeable about the critical elements for success in clinical trials and product development.

    • Demonstrative experience in hiring, training, mentoring and developing staff. Can demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize human resources in a changing environment.

    • Demonstrative experience in budgeting, forecasting, systems and process development. Experience in open book management is a plus.

    • Demonstrative experience in defining markets, analyzing customers, and producing excellent sales support materials.

    • Laptop computer, with ability to use Microsoft software at expert level.
