Builders Mutual Insurance Company was born from a challenge faced by the construction industry itself. In the early 1980s, builders and contractors in North Carolina struggled to find accessible and affordable workers' compensation insurance. Recognizing this critical need, the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) took a proactive step, establishing a self-insured fund in 1984. This fund was created by builders, for builders, with the singular purpose of providing a stable and reliable source of coverage. For our customers, this history means we are not just an insurance provider; we are a partner that is intrinsically linked to the construction community. We understand the immense risks contractors face daily, from on-site accidents to property damage, and the financial strain these can cause.
