Your Impact
We’re looking for a curious, driven, and hands-on R&D Engineering Intern who is passionate about learning and applying AI in a real-world engineering environment. As part of the R&D Engineering team at Bonterra, you’ll work with engineers who are passionate about experimenting with emerging technologies—especially AI—to shape the future of software development. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with engineers, contribute to prototypes and internal tooling initiatives. Program Details
This will be a paid internship program lasting 10-12 weeks, starting on June 23, 2025 . This position does not qualify for benefits. The role offers flexible hours and is remote.
Team Overview
As part of the R&D Engineering team at Bonterra, you will work alongside innovative engineers and product thinkers who are exploring how artificial intelligence can transform the way we build software. Our team partners closely with Product and Developer teams to research, prototype, and evaluate emerging technologies that drive engineering productivity and product excellence.
You will have the opportunity to:
Collaborate with engineers working on real-world AI-enabled development tools and workflows.
Contribute to technical experiments, prototypes, and internal tooling initiatives.

What You'll Do
Collaborate with engineers to prototype and evaluate AI-driven tools and workflows (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.)
Research and test applications of AI/ML within the software development lifecycle (e.g., code generation, bug detection, test case optimization)
Contribute to internal documentation, experiments, and proof-of-concepts that inform our product and platform strategy
Participate in agile ceremonies, design discussions, and sprint reviews alongside full-time engineers
Share learnings in a final intern showcase or write-up to help scale impact across the engineering team
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Strong enthusiasm for AI, especially as it applies to software engineering and SaaS development
Familiarity with one or more engineering AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) is a strong plus
Solid programming skills (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar)
Eagerness to learn, experiment, and think creatively
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Bonus Points
Prior experience with open-source projects or personal projects using AI tools
Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
Interest in developer productivity, AI ethics, or engineering enablement

Compensation
The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US Base Salary Range: $20 - 25/hr.
