Develops and implements Cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure & platform solutions for BMO. Develops strategic technology based on technical and business needs to support anticipated business strategies and organizational growth. Designs, builds / installs, tests, maintains, monitors and upgrades infrastructure such as computing platforms, servers and networks. Ensures consistent image management, application delivery, scaling efficiency, performance monitoring, and continuous improvements across the VDI environment. Understands current and future technical cloud compute, operating system, security, and system services layers. Performs capacity workload modeling and availability analysis for a variety of platforms and environments. Implements disaster recovery procedures and troubleshoots any network and connectivity issues in a timely manner, with minimal disruption to normal functioning. Works with stakeholders and recommends cloud solutions based on engineering requirements. Ensures that systems and infrastructure align with business value and are technically sound and well-integrated. Responds immediately to critical connectivity and access issues by evaluating solutions, coordinating recovery and ensuring resolution. While this is not an operations role, after hours support may occasionally be required. Acts as the primary technical liaison between Cloud VDI Infrastructure and other IT teams, vendors and partners, as well as the business to design infrastructure solutions.

  • Develops, communicates and presents Cloud VDI solutions to peer engineering teams, technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders and platform owners to understand their functional and non-functional requirements, translating their needs into a Cloud based Virtual Desktop solution.
  • Develops and maintains Architecture and Detailed Design documentation, including diagrams for the end-to-end Cloud VDI solutions.
  • Conducts feasibility studies to determine the likelihood of proposed project's success in the current environment.​
  • Oversees Virtual Desktop Image provisioning, image creation, image optimization, and versioning.
  • Identifies, tests and implements policies for security hardening, optimization, feature enhancements, provisioning, dynamic groups and role-based access.
  • Conducts frequent environment assessments to ensure all Cloud VDI best practices are in place, reports on any findings and supports in developing improvement strategies based on the findings.​
  • Leads Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and operational readiness efforts as they pertain to the Cloud VDI solutions.
  • Creates test plans, conducts testing in Dev/QA and develops implementation guides along with support documentation.
  • Manages and coordinates the release of changes into production applying standardized procedures and minimizing risk to existing services.
  • Monitors and maintains reporting on licensing, costs, performance, and connectivity for Cloud VDI environment.
  • Coordinates with QA and Application teams for testing image, app updates and any other changes that have potential impact to the environment.
  • Provides guidance and leadership for business and technical teams requiring applications to be packaged via SCCM or Intune.
  • Enhances and automates processes while transitioning workloads to the cloud.
  • Conducts technical knowledge sharing sessions and provides mentoring for engineering peers and supporting teams.
  • Works to determine enterprise security controls and identify any threats to the infrastructure. ​
  • Diagnoses complex network, storage and VDI issues and implements corrective solutions​.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

Salary:

$94,600.00 - $176,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
